Sadasiva Brahmendra was a saint, a composer of Carnatic music and an Advaita philosopher who lived near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu during the 18th century. He composed mainly in Sanskrit. Only a few of his compositions have survived but they are recognised as great compositions of Carnatic Music.
Sadashiva Brahmendra was a Jeevan Mukta, who knew the bliss of self-realisation. He composed poems in sanskrit, which are prevalent in the Bhajan Sampradaya. He is also distinguished in the field of Advaita literature. He wrote commentaries on the Brahma Sutras and Yoga sutras.
Sadashiva Brahmendra was the Dharmakarta of the Thiruvanaikoil temple for 60 years. Inscriptions in the temple describe his life and works. Sadashiva Brahmendra built several mantapas and Jayastambhas or pillars with engravings, in this temple.
