The Bhakti Movement - Part 2

One of the earliest and longest standing music-related movements. Part 2 of 2.

The Bhakti movement in India perhaps began as early as the 5th century. We find bhakti poets in all regions of india, irrespective of language. Some of the famous bhakti poets were Jayadeva, the Alwars and Nayanmars, sankeertana composers like Annamacharya, the Vachanakaras like Basavanna and Akka Mahadevi, the Haridasas, the saint poets of Bengal, the Abhang composers of Maharashtra and poets like Surdas, Kabir and Meera. This is the second and concluding part of a two-part feature.
