Bombay Jayashri Ramnath

An hour of music by Bombay Jayashri Ramnath in connection with her birthday on December 2.

Bombay Jayashri is among the musicians who is equally comfortable, whatever the genre of music. Though essentially trained in classical music - her initial training included both Carnatic and Hindustani - she has been totally at home in the mixed genres that film music represents. Along with being feted as a sensitive classical musician known for the involvement and depth of her music, Bombay Jayashri also tasted success with her first foray into film songs. Her classical music has an essentially meditative nature, though she also delves into quick and exciting musical passages with ease. On the concert stage, she has confined herself to vocal Carnatic music; her training, however, has extended to Hindustani vocal and Carnatic veena. With her versatility, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath has had plenty of opportunities to handle devotional music and cross-genre experimental projects, the outcomes of many of which have been critical and popular success.
