Bombay Sisters

An hour of music of the senior duo in connection with the birthday of C Saroja on December 7.

The Bombay Sisters, C Saroja & C Lalitha, have been performing as a duo since 1963. Students first of Musiri Subramania Iyer and later of T K Govinda Rao, they have a large repertoire of compositions from dozens of major and minor composers. From the 1970s onwards, they have been a popular duo in Carnatic music. Apart from their concerts, the Bombay Sisters are known for the audio releases - both Carnatic and devotional - and are among musicians with the most albums to their name. They have released thematic albums with compositions of various composers, in several languages. The Bombay Sisters also promote young musicians through endowments and scholarships.
