Music of the vainika, teacher, scholar, and Sangeeta Kalanidhi in connection with his birth anniversary on Sep 27.

K S Narayanaswamy was known for the Thanjavur style of veena playing. He was instrumental, along with Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, in editing and publishing the kritis of Swathi Thirunal. He participated in several international conferences and was a member of the Music and Cultural Delegations to the erstwhile USSR and East European countries in 1954. In 1970, he was invited by Yehudi Menuhin to attend the Bath International Music Festival and perform at London, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge, and Birmingham. He was awarded the Sangeeta Kalanidhi in 1979. This programme features veena recordings of K S Narayanaswamy, and is in connection with his birth anniversary on September 27.
