Tirupathi

Many composers have written on the Tirupathi temple, with Annamacharya foremost among them.

Many Carnatic music composers have composed songs on holy places or kshetras. Usually, such a song focuses on the most important temple and its deity and describes the specialities of that temple and that deity. In this programme, we listen to the Carnatic compositions on Tirupati and its presiding deity Lord Venkateshwara. Of course, when one thinks of Tirupathi, one thinks also of Annamacharya, whose compositions are dedicated to the Lord of the Seven Hills. This programme includes songs of Venkateshwara by a range of composers over the ages, apart from a song on Goddess Alamelu Manga too.
